Abstract

This study was done with the goals: 1) study the development of teaching and learning activity through service learning strategy in cultivating ‘serving spirit’ to improve learners’s concern and 2) study the development of teaching and learning activity through service learning strategy in practicing ‘serving spirit’ to improve learners’s concern. The study to teaching and learning process development using service learning strategy was done through a literature study towards some references relating to learning theory and self-development concept. The study towardslearning theory references emphasizes that through reallearning, there will be a positive change in learners. One of the changes expected is the ability to serve others. While the study towards self-development references emphasizes that learners are expected to find their potential and develop it to the maximumin order to serve others.It can be concluded that the study to develop a teaching and learning process using service learning strategy is expected to cultivate a serving spirit and then practice it to improve learners’s concern.


ABSTRAK

 

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengkaji pengembangan kegiatan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan strategi service learning dalam rangka menanamkan ‘jiwa melayani’ untuk meningkatkan kepedulian peserta didik, dan 2) mengkaji pengembangan kegiatan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan strategi service learning dalam rangka mempraktikkan ‘jiwa melayani’ untuk meningkatkan kepedulian peserta didik. Pengkajian terhadap pengembangan kegiatan pembelajaran dengan strategi service learning dilakukan dengan studi literatur terhadap berbagai referensi, terkait dengan teori belajar dan pengembangan diri. Hasil kajian terhadap referensi teori belajar menunjukkan, bahwa belajar dengan sungguh-sungguh akan terjadi perubahan ke arah positif bagi peserta didik. Salah satu bentuk perubahan yang terjadi yaitu kemampuan untuk melayani orang lain. Adapun kajian terhadap referensi pengembangan diri menunjukkan, bahwa peserta didik dapat menemukan potensi diri dan mengembangkannya secara maksimal untuk melayani. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kajian pengembangan kegiatan belajar menggunakan strategi service learning dapat menanamkan jiwa melayani dan diterapkannya dalam rangka meningkatkan kepedulian peserta didik.
